Vinemont remains undefeated in 3A, Area 11 volleyball play:

Lady Eagles defeat Hanceville for a 4 & 0 record in area competition:

GDW Analysis:
HANCEVILLE: Vinemont volleyball is halfway home of repeating as regular season champion in AHSAA 3A, Area 11.
On Tuesday, the Lady Eagles claimed a sweep of Hanceville in 3 games as it took just 1 hour and a minute to go to 4 & 0 and 16 & 5 for the season.
Vinemont won 25 to 8, 25 to 20 and 25 to 22.
Vinemont coach Kaydi Woodard is pleased of the performance, but was well concerned coming in as Hanceville last week took area foes Holly Pond and JB Pennington to five games each, losing in the tiebreaking set.
In getting the lead on Hanceville serving the ball out of play to make it 5 to 4, Vinemont blew the first set open with eight straight service points coming by senior Caroline Miller.
A kill from sophomore Arleigh Thomason ended the first set that was played in 11 minutes.
Hanceville prepared better for the 2nd game with the Lady Bulldogs going up at 10 to 4 on a service point by Bentley Childers.
The momentum did not hang with Morgan Hammock's Lady Bulldogs. Vinemont patiently worked back into contention and gained advantage on a serve from Reagan Robinson for a 16 to 15 score.
Miller again made her presence from serving with four consecutive points in crunch time.
Vinemont broke Hanceville's serve and took advantage on an error to close out the set 25 to 20 and go up by two games.
The Lady Eagles were breezing through Game 3. Addison Holcomb delivered a frontline kill and the visitor was ahead 20 to 11.
Hanceville put together a late surge, unfortunately not enough to overcome the deficit and drop to 0 & 2 in the area.
Steady play by Alex Twitty, Bella McAfee, Eva Giles from the front row showed Hammock a good sign that her squad can compete with anyone in their respective area.
Service points by Josi Jones, Eden Clements and Alexis Link provided balance when they were able to overcome adversity and make Vinemont with it on a kill by Holcomb and a volley by Aubrey Smith off of a Thomason serve with the match closing out at 5:04 p.m.
Both continue area assignments on the road Thursday.
To stay atop the leaderboard, Vinemont will go to Blountsville and face JB Pennington at 5:30 p.m.
Hanceville is in a rematch with Holly Pond, going to Dwayne Adams Court/Felton Easterwood Gym with match time to be at 4:00 p.m.
Holly Pond is currently 2nd in the area standings with Pennington 3rd, Locust Fork 4th and Hanceville in 5th place.
