West Point earns a sweep in volleyball home opener:

Lady Warriors play well to sweep Danville & Geraldine Monday:

WEST POINT: On Monday, West Point volleyball got to enjoy the comfort of Jim Boyd Gymnasium for the first time this season.
The Lady Warriors had been at Cold Springs, Hoover, Double Springs, Foley, Moulton and Cullman prior to this encounter against Danville and Geraldine.
Coach Meagan Cagle's Lady Warriors started a busy week with a 2 to 0 sweep of Danville and Geraldine.
The results vs. Danville were by scores of 25 to 22 and 25 to 14 in 47 minutes.
It was a quicker performance with Geraldine in which the Lady Warriors needed only 34 minutes and won 25 to 7 and 25 to 12.
Cagle's group has won three of their last four assignments and has 9 victories on the season in 17 assignments.
The opening set with Danville was back and forth. Danville led 15 to 13 when West Point tallied 7 in a row thanks to service points by Laklin Shadix and kills by Adrianna Owens and freshman Kenlee Perry.
Danville stayed on the grasp with a pair of kills by senior Josie Bailey drew the visitors within a point at 23 to 22.

 The set ended on a service error by Danville with the first set being played in 22 minutes.
Game two was tied at 4 to 4. From there, West Point executed by good play from the front line as Shadix, another freshman, Kenadi Pegan and Violet Riddel created breathing room for the home group.
Consecutive kills up front from Owens concluded the match at 5:22 p.m.

 Danville then faced Geraldine and gained a split in the tri match with a sweep by tallies of 25 to 16 and 25 to 19.
Geraldine challenged the Lady Warriors early. In the first set, the visitor from Dekalb County was down 10 to 7. That would be the last time the Lady Bulldogs would score.
After serving the ball into the net to make it 11 to 7, Patton Fell was on target in scoring the next 14 points for the Lady Warriors to complete a 25 to 7 domination.
Her serving was solid as she also had support from Shadix, Kelsye Will, Pagan with several kills and blocks in this surge.
Geraldine once again challenged the Lady Warriors. As the 2nd set began, Geraldine was down 8 to 6 as they gave up a point on a foot fault from the service line.
Chloe Hale got a chance to show her service stroke with three consecutive points. Charlie Aris provided balance from the service line and five kills out of the next six possessions led by Shadix gave West Point a huge advantage.
Pagan went to work with a kill from the back row that Geraldine could not handle and the match was done at 7:14 p.m.
West Point now focuses on 5A, Area 15 play with a match at home Tuesday vs. Russellville at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Warriors will go to Moulton Thursday in an area encounter with Lawrence County at 4:30 p.m.
