GDW Analysis:
ATLANTA: Walt Weiss is now the new manager of the Atlanta Braves.
The Braves reported the decision Monday with a news conference scheduled Tuesday from Truist Park.
Weiss has been a part of the Braves' organization as their bench coach since 2018.

Weiss played 14 seasons in the majors, three with the Braves from 1998 to 2000. The Braves at that time, played in the World Series in 1999 and was among the best in the sport throughout that decade.
The Braves are coming off the 2025 season of winning 76 and losing 86 games, failing to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
According to reports, Weiss will inherit a ball club that has plenty of experience with the Braves out to make amends on a tough season due to injuries that rumbled through the pitching staff and several everyday players missing some time as well.
OF Ronald Acuna Jr, 1B Matt Olson, 3B Austin Riley, C Drake Baldwin have gained an identity of steady play at their respective positions.
The Braves are expected to have OF Michael Harris II, OF Jurickson Profar and 2B Ozzie Albies to return.
They will be seeking a new shortstop after Ha-Seong Kim opted out of his contract Monday.
Pitching is a huge issue in trying to have a healthy staff. Chris Sale, Spencer Strider and Spencer Schwellenbach provide quality.
Depth is good with Hurston Waldrep, AJ Smith-Shawver, Grant Holmes, Bryce Elder and Joey Wentz.
Relief specialist Raisel Iglesias is reported to become a free agent during the offseason.
Braves' baseball will return to WKUL FM (92.1) for the 2026 season.
