GDW Analysis:
Victory did not slip through the grasp of the Good Hope Raiders Friday evening on homecoming and also their opener in 4A, Area 13 hoops.
The Raiders and Danville light up the GH Gym scoreboard with the home team leading 36 to 35 by halftime.
An 8 to 0 run in the 2nd enabled Mitch Morris' Raiders to overcome a 22 to 20 deficit and gain a 28 to 22 lead.
Twice in the 2nd half, the Raiders built the advantage to 10 points. Danville challenged it and late in the contest closed to 61 to 59.
But the Raiders would get six points in a row and get the lead to respectable numbers.
Young held a hot hand for the Raiders with 11 through the half.
In the 2nd half, McSwain found his stroke, scoring 12 points as he made 5 FGs, 1 trey and a FT.
A big final period from post player Screws was huge.
Screws responded with 9 in the final frame, scoring a three to move the Raider lead from 4 points to 7.
Good Hope was unable to very much allow Danville to utilize Bailey's 38 points and 24 by Barrett.
Bailey would deliver 19 per half with Barrett nailing a pair of threes to keep the Hawks close until time ran out.
A difference was missed free throws between the two with Bailey failing to hit 5 of 9 from the stripe in the 2nd half.
Barrett was 8 of 11 on the night. He went to the line only two times in the 3rd and none during the 4th.
Clicking on all cylinders to start the game were the Good Hope Lady Raiders.
By intermission, the No. 2 team in 4A basketball had buried Danville with 46 points, 16 FGs, 4 treys and 7 players to get into the scoring column.
Konrad provided 16 of her 20 by the half, Davis had 13 at intermission, Marshall scored 11 in the last half and Adams netted 10 in the final two periods.
Good Hope made 29 shots on its homecoming, 10 from three point range,
