GDW Analysis:

MONTGOMERY – The AHSAA was saddened to learn of the death of Christina Chambers, 38, a highly respected AHSAA TV Network Sideline Reporter for its Super 7 Football and State Basketball Finals Championships since 2015. She passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Christina, especially her three-year old son, and her extended family of TV friends and viewers across the state,” said AHSAA Executive Director
Heath Harmon. “Her contributions to the success of the AHSAA TV Network and her passion for teaching broadcasting to students will be long lasting. We considered her an important member of our AHSAA family.”
Christina graduated from Cullman High School where she was a track standout and then attended UAB on a track and cross-country scholarship. She earned a B.A. in journalism at UAB. She worked at several TV stations, including WBRC 6 in Birmingham. Prior to joining the WBRC 6 News sports team, Christina served as a sports reporter/anchor at WAKA TV 8 in Montgomery. She began her broadcast career as a sports and news reporter at WLTZ NBC 38 in Columbus, Georgia. She also worked with the regional sports network Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta and taught broadcasting at Thompson High School.   At CSS, she served as the Auburn University beat reporter and sideline reporter for Friday night high school football games. Christina also did freelance work as a sideline reporter and halftime host for Raycom Media and the AHSAA during broadcasts of the Super 7 high school football playoffs and high school basketball finals. She continued that work with AHSAA TV Network through 2025.
"Gameday Weekly and WKUL FM extend deepest sympathy to Christina, her family and those that were closely associated to her through her profession in covering and promoting AHSAA athletics.
"Christina set standards that enabled her to move upward in this profession. It's great for her that she was from this area, showed great ability in running track and cross country and then to be a part of sports media, especially for her time with WBRC Fox 6 and the AHSAA Network since 2015."
