MONTGOMERY: Alabama High School Athletic Association reported Saturday the violations against Coosa Christian's football program have been lifted.
The 2A school in Gadsden was charged with violations of using an ineligible player and also coaching outside the school year rule.
Coosa Christian had to forfeit games including a victory on the field October 4, 2024 vs. the Cold Springs Eagles.
The victory gave Cold Springs its 5th victory of the season and put the Eagles into the playoffs as the 4th seed out of 2A, Region 6.
Coosa Christian will play Cold Springs on October 3 in a regional game from Cranford Stricklin Stadium.
Class 2A, Region 6 consists of Cold Springs, Coosa Christian, Cleveland, Falkville, Southeastern, Susan Moore and West End.
This will be the first time Coosa Christian will play at Cold Springs.
During the recent Cullman County schools football media day, Gameday Weekly asked Cold Springs coach Brendan Voce about whether Coosa Christian's game would count in the 2025 regional standings.
Voce was not aware of it on July 21 as he was speaking to GDW and other local media with the Eagles getting ready to start the new season with a game at home vs. Hanceville on August 21.
The Conquerors are 0 & 3 all time vs. Cullman County schools with the forfeit loss to Cold Springs and two regular season losses to the Holly Pond Broncos.
In having the probation period lifted, Coosa Christian went ahead and suspended head coach Mark O'Bryant for the 2025 season.
The successor to O'Bryant for the upcoming season has not been released according to media reports.
Coosa Christian will kick off the season in a game at Pierce County, Georgia August 22.
