GDW Analysis:
MONTGOMERY: Team North overcome Team South with the top two finishes to earn victory in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) all star cross country run from Gateway Park Tuesday morning.
The North took 3rd place through 8th place for very good scoring and got it completed by Holly Pond runner Travis Barnett.
Barnett was 10th in the run, getting points for the North in dealing with a heat advisory and humid conditions in the Capitol City.
Barnett's time was 17:43.67.
Barnett was invited to the all star run with solid credentials in his career so far with Holly Pond.
A state champion, 4 time all county, 4 time all sectional was on his resume. College coaches were at the meet including Wallace State's Tony Crider.
For Barnett, his mother Stephanie cheered him on as did his coach Todd Carter and principal Nate Ayers.
With the best time for the North was Shawn Stephenson of Northridge High School, 3rd place at 16:35.60.
Cooper Jeffcoat from Oak Mountain got 4th place, 16:42.52, Gabriel Knox of Hewitt Trussville took 5th at 16:53.42.
