CS Eagles go on a scoring frenzy in opener vs. Hanceville:
Eagles grind out 443 yards to romp over Hanceville 65 to 7:

GDW Analysis:
COLD SPRINGS: A year ago, the Cold Springs Eagles scored the most points ever in a game with the Hanceville Bulldogs.
A 48 to 30 victory in 2024 from Ray Talley Stadium was due to 30 points in the 4th quarter, coming from a 20 to 18 deficit.
For the 2025 opener, the Eagles ran at will against the Bulldogs and enjoyed the opener Thursday evening from Cranford Stricklin Stadium 65 to 7.
By halftime, the Eagles had delivered 43 points on their scoreboard next to a new jumbotron. Four touchdowns came in the 2nd quarter with 207 yards rushing a storyline for Brendan Voce's Eagles.
When the game went final, the Eagles netted 443 yards on the ground, 118 in passing for 561 yards and 24 first downs.
The Eagles claimed their first victory on the home turf since September 29 of 2023 in whipping Shoals Christian 44 to 12.
Cold Springs was 0 & 5 at home last season and 5 & 0 on the road in regular season matchups.
The Eagles 91 yards on their first drive and led 8 to 0 on a 25 yard pass from Ayden Black to Breydon Hallman and a 2 point run by Cooper Johnson.
Cold Springs extended the lead to 16 to 0 as their 2nd drive was 73 yards to the end zone with Black hitting Eli Voce for a scoring pass of 16 yards and a two point tally by Cason Alexander.
A drive late in the first that started from the CS 28, went to the end zone when Johnson scored from the 8 and Black hit Voce on a two point pass play.
Black threw his 3rd TD pass in the half, 18 yards to Ethan Day for the lead to grow to 30 to 0.
Hanceville struggled to move the ball from its side of the field. The Bulldogs punted and Black grabbed the kick, scampering 40 yards to the end zone. Hallman booted the point after and the Eagles led 37 to 0.
Their final score was after the Eagles recovered a kickoff at the Hanceville 34. Tyson Kilgo carried for 27 yards then scored on the next play from the seven.
The Eagles had 43 points with 2:30 remaining until halftime.
Hanceville managed to score right before the half closed out. The Bulldogs went from their 38 to the end zone as several penalties on the Eagles provided assistance.
The TD was a 20 yard pass from Black to WR Avery Carnathan. Dylan Lazarro followed with the kick. The halftime score was Eagles 43, Bulldogs 7.
Cold Springs amassed 208 yards rushing in the 3rd period with Black romping 43 yards for a score around left end and a 35 yard run to the end zone by Alexander.
By the end of the 3rd, the Eagles were ahead 58 to 7 with Alexander finishing the game gaining 177 yards and 87 by Black, their QB.
A 65 yard drive to the end zone concluded on the first play of the 4th. The Eagles enjoyed the most points in a game carried by WKUL FM (92.1) with the tandem of play by play voice Rich Jesse and analyst Pete Kirby, now calling games for the station in their 13th season.
Cold Springs has won four consecutive season openers under Voce, two over Curry in 2022 and 2023 and the last two years vs. Hanceville.
Hanceville struggled on the night in generating a rushing attack. The Bulldogs were held to 0 yards in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. They managed 5 in the final quarter.
A positive for the Bulldogs was Black with a punting average of around 33 yards per kick.
His longest of the night traveled 37 yards.
Cold Springs will be at Stricklin Stadium next Friday against Curry.
Hanceville has Holly Pond to visit Ray Talley Stadium August 29.
