HOLLY POND: A standout in the sport of softball has propelled Maggie Nail to enjoying her future endeavors.
The Holly Pond senior signed a letter of intent Thursday morning with the University of Alabama Huntsville.
The ceremony took place inside Felton Easterwood Gymnasium on Dwayne Adams court with family and friends to share in this moment with her.
"We are proud of this awesome young lady, "Principal Nate Ayers in leading off the ceremony.
"She brings a lot of energy to the game. She is an impact to her team and leads by example," softball coach Zach Qualls replied.
Nail displayed pride and honor for the moment of a goal she has set for a long time.
Nail earned All Cullman County, all area, 2nd team Class 3A all state and a member of the Gameday Weekly all performance team from her 2025 season with the Lady Broncos.
Nail plays shortstop and is the team's leadoff batter. She earned batter of the year by local media in her junior season.
A veteran in travel softball, Nail has played in this organization for 9 years.
According to information, Nail was recruited by Melanie Carter from UAH. Carter has been promoted to head coach after Les Stuedeman retired following 29 wins for the Lady Chargers in 2025, 19 in the Gulf South Conference of NCAA Division II.
At the present time, Nail is focusing on her role with the Lady Broncos in basketball.
Nail plays a wing guard position with Holly Pond off to a 2 & 0 start on the new season.
She and her Lady Broncos celebrated Veterans' Day with a 59 to 44 victory over Southside Gadsden at Wallace State's Tom Drake Coliseum.
Nail and the Lady Broncos look to their next game, the Cullman County opener Friday at West Point.
Nail and West Point center Laklin Shadix share great friendship. Shadix and her father came to Nail's signing.
Both have played together in travel sports for several years.

 Nail is the 3rd local athlete to sign with UAH.
Ivey Maddox of Good Hope did in 2024 and Lady Raider Ava McSwain in 2025. Both are playing for the Lady Chargers who are under the direction of former Wallace State coach Allen Sharpe.
