GDW hoops report from Veterans' Day Classic:
HANCEVILLE: Cullman Bearcats and the West Point Warriors had sound performances in the 2nd half of their assignments Tuesday from the Veterans' Day Classic at Wallace State Community College.
Cullman wore down Decatur 70 to 51 with a 47 to 27 advantage on the Tom Drake Coliseum scoreboard in the 2nd half.
West Point erased a two point deficit with Danville going into the 4th, blowing out the Hawks 66 to 52 behind a 25 to 9 run in the final 8:00.
The performance from Cullman and West Point displayed a good day for the locals in this 4th annual event to celebrate Veterans Day.

MVP performers:
Cullman - Sam Dorough 24 points on 7 FGs, 1 trey and 9 of 11 FTs against Decatur.
West Point - Maddox Chapman 28 points, 12 FGs, 4 of 6 FTs vs. Danville. Chapman scored 10 of his 17 points in the 2nd half in the final period.

Dorough was one of four Cullman Bearcats to go for double figures in this hotly contested assignment with Decatur.
Gray Hopper collected 14 with 11 coming in the final half. Center Brooks Loftin and shooting guard Owen Graves tallied 10 apiece. The duo amassed 17 in teamwork during the 2nd half.
Cullman moved to 2 & 0 on the season with this now the 5th year the Bearcats are under command of Stu Stuedeman.
Chapman's ability near the basket was a problem for Danville to contain. Chapman delivered 6 FGs in the 2nd half to rally West Point.
He got assistance from Jaxson Shelton would earned 15 points in the victory and 11 from Brier Taylor on 4 FGs, 1 trey and 2 of 3 from the line.
The West Point defense slowed up Danville forward Ty Bailey in the final period, allowing him 3 points after he had accounted for 18 through the first three periods of play.
Guard Braylon Soles carried Geneva to victory vs. Fairview with an 11 point surge in the 3rd. His play was vital with good results from his teammates in the final stanza in a 20 to 11 run and a 51 to 38 victory.
Fairview put together a group of JV personnel to go with varsity players Calin Collins and Ayden Batz due to the majority of the roster is still playing football.
Batz tossed in 10 with Collins scoring nine in a competitive situation for the Aggies.
Cole Patterson was selected the MVP for Appalachian with 15 points in the Eagles romping Gatson in the first game of the schedule. The Eagles and Bulldogs tipped off at 8:00 a.m.
Appalachian sprinted to a 22 to 10 lead in the first and 46 to 19 by halftime.
