Local football enters stretch run of 2025 regional schedule:

For the 9th week of the 2025 football regular season, regional play with an interesting twist in six of the assignments.
Local teams would be considered an "underdog" for the fact they have fewer wins in the region vs their opponent for Friday evening.
That can be used as motivation for Cullman, Cold Springs, Good Hope, Hanceville, Holly Pond and West Point with very much nothing to lose.
Cullman vs. Decatur Friday 7:00 p.m.
Britton Field/Woodard Stadium in Cullman
Class 6A, Region 7
Cullman: 2 & 4, 1 & 4 Decatur 2 & 6, 1 & 3
Series: Decatur 35/20.2 2024: Cullman W 42 to 14
Decatur is tied for 4th place in Region 7 with Athens. Both will face each other next week to end their regional schedule.
Cullman plays at home for the last time under rookie coach Trent Walker. Bearcats are 0 & 3 at home.

Cold Springs at Southeastern Friday 7:00 p.m.

Class 2A, Region 6
Series: CS 4 to 1 2024: SE defeated CS 20 to 14
Southeastern is 2nd best in the region at 3 & 1, 5 & 2 overall.
Cold Springs is tied for 3rd with Falkville at 2 & 2 and 6 & 2 for the season.
Eagles' 4 game winning streak was stopped last week at home to Coosa Christian 41 to 8.
Brendan Voce's Eagles are 2 & 1 on the road.
Good Hope vs. Fayette Co Friday 7:00 p.m.
James Shabel Stadium in Good Hope
Class 4A, Region 5
Series: Fayette Co 5 & 2 2024: GH won 34 to 12
Fayette Co shares the lead with Hamilton. Hamilton knocked off Good Hope last Friday 28 to 21. GH is 6 & 1 and 5 & 1 in the region, 3rd place.
Fayette Co comes to Good Hope with 6 wins out of 8 decisions.
Final home game for Alan Scott's Raiders (4 & 0).
Good Hope dropped to 10th in 4A poll after the loss to Hamilton last Friday.
Hanceville vs. Winfield Friday 7:00 p.m.
Ray Talley Stadium in Hanceville
Class 3A, Region 5
Series: Winfield 8 to 3 2024: Winfield W 61 to 18
Winfield is with Gordo for 2nd place in the region. The Pirates and Green Wave are 4 & 1.
Winfield faces a Hanceville squad that is 0 & 7 and 0 & 5 in the region.
Final home game for Levi Estes' Bulldogs.
Holly Pond vs. Fyffe Friday 7:00 p.m.
Thomas/Michelfelder Field in Holly Pond
Class 3A, Region 8
Series: Fyffe 1 & 0 2024: Fyffe won 61 to 18.
Fyffe is No. 3 in 3A football with a 6 & 1 record and tied for 1st in the region with Geraldine at 5 & 0.
Holly Pond has won 4 of 7 games, matching the win total from last season. Will McDaniel's Broncos are tied for 3rd with Collinsville in the region at 3 & 2.

Series: Russellville 11 & 0 2024: Russ W 44 to 13
This week Russellville is locked in 2nd with Priceville in the region standings at 3 & 1.
West Point comes in 4th with a 3 & 2 record and 4 & 3 in the 2nd season under Kevin McCravy, a former assistant coach at Russellville.
Final road game for West Point.
West Point stayed in 4th in the region standings from its 14 to 6 victory last Friday over East Limestone.
Fairview at Sardis Friday 7:00 p.m.

Series: Fairview 6 & 4 2024: Fairview W 38 to 18
Last week Fairview clinched the 5A, Region 7 regular season title by a 28 to 9 triumph at Priceville.
George Redding's Aggies are 7 & 0 overall, 5 & 0 in the region and 4th in the current 5A state poll.
Sardis has a 6 game losing streak, 1 & 7 for the season and winless in 5 games in 5A, Region 8.
Vinemont vs. Oakman Friday 7:00 p.m.

Class 3A, Region 5
Game will be on 92.1 FM (WKUL)
Series: Oakman 3 to 2 2024: VM won 20 to 7
Vinemont currently leads 3A, Region 7 after big upset last week at Gordo.
The Eagles are 5 & 0 in the region, 6 & 2 for the season and winners of 6 straight.
Oakman has lost 2 in a row to Gordo and Winfield. The Wildcats are 2 & 3 for the region and 2 & 5 on the season. They are 5th in regional play.
Vinemont has a playoff berth locked up, but has a lot of work to do this week and next week in finishing their regional schedule with Oakman at home and Winfield on the road.
