GDW Analysis:
Local football teams were given a different look from the weather than what they would normally be expecting at the start of August.
Back to back days of temperatures well below average is how the eight schools covered by Gameday Weekly have experienced it.
The first three days of fall workouts, the AHSAA allows teams to be out in shorts and helmets.
By Thursday, they can put on full gear and go into more intense work when it comes to scrimmage and contract drills.
According to Cullman weather, the temperature approaching the weekend should be in the upper 80s with a slight chance of rain Wednesday through Saturday.
GDW visited the Good Hope Raiders workout Monday prior to covering Good Hope's "Back to School Bash" from the Good Hope Recreation Complex, presented by the city of Good Hope with its mayor. Jerry Bartlett.
The 7 teams from the county school system can set their times for workouts at their choice for Tuesday and Wednesday.
County schools will go to class to start the new year on Thursday.
At Cullman, the Bearcats will be students Wednesday and after school, football players.
From the present time, GDW is aware of a couple of fall jamborees to be held on Friday, August 15.
Cullman is scheduled to take on Winston County while West Point and Hanceville are to meet one another from Ray Talley Stadium.
These three schools will have at least nine workouts under their belt when they see someone on the other side of the field in a different uniform.
The 2025 season has a Thursday night game with Hanceville visiting Cold Springs.
Everyone else will be under the lights on Friday, August 22.
Cullman is at home to face Bob Jones, Fairview goes to Fultondale, Holly Pond is at Appalachian, Vinemont travels to Falkville, West Point is at Haleyville and Good Hope faces Pisgah in a jamboree game in Jackson County.
