GDW Analysis:
HOLLY POND: Holly Pond High School is seeking improvement for its campus.
The 3A school received tremendous support when local state senator Garlan Gudger Jr visited the campus June 18 and presented a check valued at $100,000 for supplemental state funding.
Senator Gudger was welcomed by Holly Pond principal Nate Ayers, Holly Pond mayor Carla Hart, school board representative Heath Allbright, teachers, students and former House of Representative Randall Shedd.
Gudger told the group he is pleased with the effort from them in the quest for Holly Pond to move forward in facility upgrades.
Gameday Weekly had a chance to see improvement from Dwayne Adams Court/Felton Easterwood Gymnasium June 20 during a girls basketball playday.
The Adams' name to the floor became official December 6 of last year.
This facility was built in 1983 and has seen an upgrade in a new painted floor and building, new bleachers to present a pleasant atmosphere to the teams that compete in this facility each year as affiliated with the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
Holly Pond is currently a 3A program in all sports of the AHSAA.
