GDW Analysis:
When coach Drew Adams woke up Thursday morning, he learned his Cold Springs Eagles had been elevated to the No. 1 slot in AHSAA 2A basketball.
The Eagles accepted it as a reward and went out on the home floor that night, handling Winston County with ease.
This puts the Eagles on the verge of winning the 2A, Area 11 regular season title.
This extends the winning streak for the Eagles to 16 games and an impressive 20 & 1 record.
For Adams, an incredible feat as he has now compiled 8 consecutive seasons of at least 20 victories.
The previous 7 years were with the Good Hope Raiders. His first season at Cold Springs has the Eagles enjoying their best time on the hardwood since 2020/21 when they went 22 & 6 under Tim Willoughby.
Hill handled the scoring for the Eagles through the first half with 15. Hill was sharp from the line in hitting 9 of 12 by the break.
An 18 to 6 lead after the first, keyed by a 7 to 0 run to close the period, went to 32 to 13 at the half.
The third featured Dickerson scoring three times, hitting a trey and 2 FGs and a pair of long shots by Black in a 21 to 6 surge and a 53 to 19 advantage.
Cold Springs never let Winston County reach double digit scoring in any period and surrendered 3 FGs by the Yellow Jackets in the final 16:00.
