GDW Analysis:
Spring football jamborees are scheduled for this weekend with two local teams facing an opponent from their home stadium.
According to information provided by the AHSAA, the Cold Springs Eagles welcome the Walter Welborn Panthers to Cranford Stricklin Stadium Thursday. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, the Vinemont Eagles roll out the welcome mat for the Fyffe Red Devils at Mark Smothers Stadium. The two will kick off at 6:00 p.m.
These are the only local teams Gameday Weekly is aware of for putting in a couple of weeks with spring workouts and going through the process of a game like situation.
Vinemont had a fine 2024 campaign with a 7 & 3 regular season record, the best for the Eagles since the same numbers from 2020.
The Eagles have been a playoff participant in Class 3A of the AHSAA postseason for the last 5 years under Stephen Robinson.
Robinson will go into his 9th season at his alma mater in the fall. Vinemont has 36 victories in 85 games with Robinson. The Eagles sport a 23 & 28 record vs. regional teams.
The 4th season for Brendan Voce at Cold Springs approaches.
Cold Springs was 5 & 5 in the regular season in 2024 that got them a playoff berth by finishing 4th in Region 6 of Class 2A.
The Eagles have been a winner in 13 of 31 decisions with Voce.
