Tough losses on Tuesday hard to swallow for local basketball:

Area setbacks for Cullman, West Point, Good Hope, Holly Pond:

GDW Analysis:
  Victory for local basketball in area assignments Tuesday were hard to come by.
Two teams went down to defeat in overtime, one lost by a 1 possession score and the other was knocked off on its own floor.

 Cullman Bearcats fell at Jasper 43 to 40. The Bearcats go to 1 & 1 in 6A, Area 13 and 18 & 4 for the season. Jasper is 16 & 4 and 2 & 0 in area play. The 'Cats went into the game No. 3 in the 6A rankings.

West Point Warriors got outscored 7 to 0 in OT by Lawrence County, losing to the Red Devils 50 to 43. West Point led 43 to 38 with 1:40 to play in the 4th. The Warriors did not score the rest of the way in falling to 2 & 1 in 5A, Area 15 and 15 & 7 overall.
Lawrence County is 2 & 1 in the area and 12 & 9 for the season.

Vinemont Eagles earned a 51 to 48 victory in overtime at home with 3A, Area 11 rival Holly Pond. This came a night after the Eagles fell in OT on the home floor to the Good Hope Raiders.
Vinemont finishes 7 & 1 in the area standings, good enough to win the regular season title.
James Brown's Eagles have 14 wins on the season against 8 losses.

Good Hope Raiders were defeated at home by the East Lawrence Eagles 55 to 45 in 4A, Area 13 hoops.
The Raiders take a 2 & 3 area record and 6 & 11 on the season with first year coach Mitch Morris in a home area game Thursday vs. the West Morgan Rebels.

No. 1 Cold Springs Eagles went to Dora and clobbered the Bulldogs 74 to 33 in a non area game Tuesday.
Drew Adams' Eagles are 21 & 1 and have won 17 in a row in being the current top ranked team in Class 2A in the AHSAA.

Fairview Aggies had a good outing on the road in Franklin County, beating the Russellville Golden Tigers 45 to 26.
Fairview was a winner for the first time since December 9 when the Aggies edged Holly Pond 35 to 34. This ended a 10 game losing streak with the Aggies now 7 & 15 for the season.

Locust Fork Hornets defeated the Hanceville Bulldogs 56 to 31 in 3A, Area 11 hoops from Lane Horton Gymnasium.
Hanceville dropped to 2 & 3 in area play and 5 & 14 overall. Locust Fork is 3rd in the area at 4 & 4 and 8 & 6 for the current season.
