GDW Analysis:
St. HELENA ISLAND, SC: More accomplishments on the links have been a pleasure for West Point golfer Bailey Sutter.
The AHSAA 5A state champion is in a summer schedule and continues to make an impact.
A couple of weeks ago, Sutter prevailed in the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) junior amateur championship.
On Friday, he added to his championship hardware with the title in the 53rd Southern Junior Championship at the Dataw Island Club.
Sutter worked his way from 4 shots off the leaderboard after the first day. He had a 73 in Round 1. Sutter would perform to a 67 the 2nd day and a 66 in the final round.
The 66 enabled Sutter to finish regulation tied for the lead with Brentwood, Tennessee golfer Andrew Sciortino.
Sutter claimed the championship on the first round of a sudden death playoff.
His three day score was a 10 under par 206.
Sutter will prepare for the AHSAA all star golf series during the all star sports week July 21.
Sutter, going into his senior year, has been selected to play for the North All Stars.
He will be sharing the course with a local, John Lunsford of Cullman High School.
