Warriors rise to the challenge in win over East Limestone:

WEST POINT: A scoreless battle through three quarters changed in the final period as the West Point Warriors were productive enough Friday evening for a 14 to 6 victory against East Limestone in the Gameday Weekly Game of the Week.
The Warriors went into the East Limestone end zone at 10:44 and 6:37 of the final period. It took a good defensive play on the last snap to save victory for the Warriors in AHSAA 5A, Region 7.
A West Point drive late in the 3rd, beginning from the East Limestone 43, carried into the 4th and ended when RB Ollie Howell scored up the middle from 9 yards out.
The Warriors led 7 to 0 with 10:44 remaining.
After an 18 yard punt gave the ball back to West Point at the East Limestone 20, the Warriors moved the lead to 14 to 0 when Cooper Howard caught a 22 yard TD pass from QB Max Patterson.
East Limestone then drove 67 yards in a span of 2:50 and closed to 14 to 6 on a TD run from the 3 by RB Javian Martin.
The conversion failed with 3:38 still to play in the game.
West Point recovered an onside kick and drove to the East 20 when a field goal attempt was blocked with 0:54 remaining.
East Limestone took over and tried to get the ball downfield with no time outs left and a determined West Point defense standing in their way.
Bryant Moon intercepted a pass at the West Point 26 with a second remaining. The Warriors went into victory formation to escape an upset bid by the visitors from the town of Capshaw in Limestone County.
West Point is 4 & 3 overall and 3 & 2 in the region.
The Warriors would net 179 yards total offense with 122 coming in the 2nd half.
Howell finished with 82 yards rushing and a TD.
Patterson, making his first start in replacing an injured Ayden Ennis, threw for 104 yards and a TD.
Howard caught 6 passes for 65 yards and a score.
Moon had 2 receptions for 26 yards to go with his game saving interception.
West Point's defense allowed East Limestone 55 yards on the ground all night.
The Warriors forced two turnovers on a fumble recovery by Rush Lamar in the 3rd and the interception at the end by Moon.
East Limestone managed to gain 98 yards passing on 4 completions by Landon Compton. Two completions gained 40 yards and 43 yards.
West Point now looks to a huge game in Region 7 next Friday at Russellville.
