Winning a ball game carries so much value:

Vinemont victory over Gordo makes a huge statement:

Flash Thoughts:
Winning is the essence when it comes to athletic competition.
It can be looked at of how rewarding victory can be when it's accomplished against a good opponent.
Vinemont Eagles can endure that at the present time. Their 22 to 19 victory over No. 3 ranked Gordo Friday evening in Pickens County has propelled them to the top of the leaderboard in 3A, Region 5.
Five teams locally put together a winning effort on the 8th week of the 2025 AHSAA regular season.
Vinemont and Fairview grabbed tremendous recognition. Both defeated teams with good talent and ranked in the Top 10 of their respective class.
Cullman and Holly Pond claimed victory as expected against inferior teams.
Cullman drubbed Columbia 39 to 0 with the school in Huntsville now at 98 consecutive losses.
Holly Pond slammed Asbury 42 to 0 on homecoming.
A 14 to 6 victory for West Point vs. East Limestone was huge with it keeping the Warriors in contention to making the playoffs this year from 5A, Region 7.
Six of the eight schools covered by Gameday Weekly are enjoying a winning season.
A high percentage of victory by these teams have been at squads that could not match them on an even keel when the games were played.
We are at a crucial time in the regular season. The next two weeks will close out regional play.
Victory is the issue and good performances will be needed to make the 2025 season worthy of more wins than losses.

Cold Springs:
Eagles have played superior ball over teams such as Hanceville, Cleveland, Curry, West End. Their wins vs, Winston County and Lynn are against schools that are 3 & 4 and 4 & 4 currently.
For the Eagles to be a playoff team with the fact of 6 wins in 8 games so far, they have to prevail the next two weeks in road games in 2A, Region 6 at Southeastern (5 & 2) and Falkville (5 & 2).

Cold Springs is tied in the region with Falkville at 2 & 2. Coosa Christian leads with a 5 & 0 record and Southeastern 2nd at 3 & 1.
Good Hope:
Seeing their undefeated season stopped in a 28 to 21 loss at Hamilton, Good Hope is now in an uphill battle to try and stay near the top of 4A, Region 5.
Fayette County visits James Shabel Stadium Friday. Fayette joins Hamilton at 5 & 0 in the region while Good Hope has slipped to 3rd place with a 4 & 1 mark.
The momentum the Raiders built throughout this season gets challenged by Fayette County then at Dora October 24. The Raiders are trying to avoid being a road team for the opening round of the playoffs.
Holly Pond:
Broncos have matched their victory total of 4 from last season with 3 games to close out the schedule.
They are in the mix for a playoff berth from 3A, Region 8.
Tough opposition stands in the Broncos' way.
Holly Pond plays Fyffe at home Friday and is at Collinsville on the 24th.
Fyffe shares the regional lead with Geraldine as both are 5 & 0. They will play each other the following week.
Holly Pond is tied for 3rd with Collinsville at 3 & 2. Whitesburg Christian trails both at 2 & 3 and has a win against the Broncos from the week before.
Vinemont:
On top of 3A, Region 5 is Vinemont. The effort of coming from behind at Gordo has given them a 5 & 0 record with 2 weeks left on the regional schedule.
Trailing Vinemont with 4 wins in 5 regional games are Gordo and Winfield.
Gordo has the tiebreaker on Winfield.
Vinemont plays host to Oakman Friday and journeys to Winfield the 24th.

A win against Oakman strengthens the Eagles' bid to play a 1st round game in Vinemont.
Oakman is 5th after Friday's loss to Phil Campbell. Phil Campbell is 3 & 2, but has an early season regional loss to Vinemont.
West Point:
Surviving a good challenge by East Limestone has the Warriors 2 & 2 in 5A, Region 7.
West Point stands 4th following this week's schedule.
Now the Warriors go to Russellville and end the regional schedule at home the 24th with Ardmore.
Ardmore is on the heels of the Warriors.
Ardmore rolled over Lawrence County 55 to 23. The Tigers entertain East Limestone Friday evening.
The Lawrence County loss to Ardmore has eliminated the Red Devils from playoff possibility.
Analysis:
Winning of course is the measuring stick.
Knocking off squads that have a high value each has earned is what makes it so much special.
The regional season is going down to the wire.
