GOOD HOPE: Middle school basketball was in the local spotlight Friday after three prep football teams took their playoff games off Friday due to the concern of inclement weather.
West Point paid a visit to Good Hope with victory coming for the visitors in the 8th grade and girls game.
8th grade:

Storyline:
West Point's 8th grade came back after suffering its first loss of the season on November 4 to Hampton Cove 40 to 34 in scoring a season high in points and 3 point FGs.
Consistency was on display for the Warriors in scoring 18 in the 1st, 19 in the 2nd and 17 in the 3rd to take a comfortable 54 to 18 lead to the final period.
West Point tossed in 11 shots from 3 point land with Thompson and Guthrie showing a good stroke in deep range shooting and combining for 39 points.
The Warriors handed Good Hope their first loss of the season. West Point is 3 & 0 in the county MS standings with Good Hope 2 & 1.
The West Point girls had a 14 to 3 advantage on Good Hope following the first period and kept the lead at arms length the rest of the contest.
West Point tallied a 16 to 8 edge on the scoreboard in the 2nd half after the Lady Warriors led 23 to 16 at halftime.
Good Hope's 7th grade group got the evening started well from the home side of the situation.
Leading 15 to 7 when the half ended, Good Hope put the game in victory mode with a 12 to 4 run in the final 6:00.
